Paint Recycling & Disposal

Our Recycling Center is unable to process paint, but you still have a few options:

  • Wait for one of KNFB's Household Hazardous Waste Events in your area.

  • Atlanta Paint Disposal: Schedule a porch pick up or take it to one of their drop off locations (including some Benjamin Moore stores) that collect paint on their behalf. They will collect and recycle your paint for a fee.

  • CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) Located in Atlanta. Check their website or call at 404-600-6386 for hours and more information.

  • Roswell Recycling Center (Roswell residents only)

  • Alpharetta Public Works (Alpharetta residents only)

  • Try your local community, church, or school theater to see if they need it for a project.

  • Give it away on Craigslist, Freecycle, Nextdoor, or social media outlets.

  • Fill with cat litter, shredded newspaper, or sand to solidify the paint and throw away with your regular trash.

  • Use a paint solidifier, such as the ones recommended below to quickly dry up your paint, then throw it away with your regular trash.

  •  Try using the search feature on earth911.com for additional options.

  • A special note from KNFB: KNFB is only able to process paint at our Household Hazardous Waste Events as we will have use of special equipment and a professional hazardous waste crew for THAT DAY ONLY. Additionally, paint must be in liquid form to be processed at these events. Our Sandy Springs Recycling Center is unable to process paint of any kind as we simply do not have the equipment to do so. Please use one of the options listed above to dispose of your paint thoughtfully.

Want to be the first to hear about our events? Click here to subscribe. Note: Household Hazardous Waste Events are open only to Sandy Springs or Johns Creek residents. Residency requirements will be clearly noted in event communication.
