Household Hazardous Waste Event May 22, 2021

Keep North Fulton Beautiful is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event sponsored by the City of Sandy Springs.

This event is exclusively for residents of the City of Sandy Springs. No businesses or contractors please.

Pre-registration and a valid photo ID at the event displaying your address are REQUIRED. 

Pre-register at the link below.  Deadline: Thursday, May 20, or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first. 

REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ON SITE.

Location:  The office building at 620 Morgan Falls Rd. Sandy Springs, GA.

This is 1/4 mile EAST of our recycling center. (See map below)

All CDC recommended guidelines will be followed for the health and safety of our workers, volunteers, and residents.

Accepted Items: 

• Aerosols
• Automotive fluids, including gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze
• Batteries EXCEPT alkaline (AA, AAA, A, B, C, 9V batteries can be safely disposed of in your regular trash).
• Cleaning products
• Cooking fats, oils, or grease
• Fire extinguishers
• Fluorescent light bulbs (curly or tubes)  
• Herbicides, pesticides, & fertilizer
• Mercury devices (Thermostat/thermometers)
• Paint: Limit of 80 pounds per vehicle. (A full gallon of paint is about 8-10 pounds). Have more paint than that? Check out your other options for the leftovers.
• Pool chemicals
• Propane cylinders
• Paint thinner and solvents
• Smoke detectors with the battery removed

Unacceptable Items:

• NO Medical waste or needles
• NO Ammunition or explosives
• NO Pharmaceuticals
• NO electronics
• NO non-hazardous items

 I'm not a resident of Sandy Springs, but I live very nearby. Can I attend this event?

Unfortunately, no, you may not. This event is for Sandy Springs residents only as it is sponsored by the City of Sandy Springs. We will be checking residency and will direct you to exit the event if you are not a resident.

How much paint can I bring?

Paint is limited to 80 pounds total per vehicle, or approximately 10 gallons.

What kind of paint can I bring?

Latex, oil-based, acrylic, any kind of paint is welcome!

Is there a fee to attend this event?

Due to the generous support of the City of Sandy Springs, there is no fee to attend. However, donations to our non-profit are gratefully accepted and go to support our environmental education, litter prevention, and water protection programs.  Your donation is tax deductible as allowed by law.

Is this at the Sandy Springs Recycling Center?

No. If you come to the SSRC you are at the wrong location! 620 Morgan Falls Rd. Please see the map above.

Will you accept refrigerators, dehumidifiers, or A/C units at this event? They have hazardous materials in them.

Not at this event. Sandy Springs residents can dispose of these items at our recycling center for a fee.
