2024 Document Shredding & Clothing/Book Collection Event

Saturday September 21st, 11am-2pm

This event will go on rain or shine!

Prevent identity theft! Bring your documents containing sensitive information for secure on-site shredding Saturday September 21st,  at The Atlanta Realtors Association (5784 Lake Forrest Dr NW STE 150, Atlanta, GA 30328). NOTE: This is South of the Sandy Springs Recycling Center, not at the recycling center itself.

We are partnering with A1 Shredding & Recycling to shred and recycle your sensitive documents on site. You do not need to be a Sandy Springs resident to shred your materials.

We are expecting a large turnout, so please be patient as we serve each customer with care.

Limit: 10 boxes of documents per vehicle, or the equivalent in bags, 400lbs total limit.

Cost: Free! but a $15 donation is suggested. All proceeds benefit Keep North Fulton Beautiful, a  501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Clothing Collection for American Kidney Services

At our document shredding event, we will also be collecting clothing and shoes. Please bring clothing in a tied bag labeled "AKS." Shoes should go in a closed box labeled "AKS Shoes."

Your clothing donation helps individuals suffering from kidney-related illnesses pay expensive medical bills.

Thank you for helping us help kidney patients!

Questions? Please see our FAQ's below. Still can't find an answer? Email officemanager@knfb.org or call 770-551-7766.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a Sandy Springs resident to shred my materials?

No! Anyone is welcome to shred their materials.

Is this event at the recycling center?

No it's not! It's at 5784 Lake Forrest Dr NW STE 150, Atlanta, GA 30328. That is 0.25 miles EAST of the recycling center.

What is the shredding limit?

Shredding is limited to 10 boxes, or the equivalent in bags, for a maximum of  400lbs per vehicle.

Will my documents be shredded on-site?

They sure will!

Can I bring my documents ahead of the event date and drop them off to be recycled at the event?

Unfortunately not. Our small staff does not have the time or manpower  to transport your materials to the event site on your behalf.  However, we do have document shredding year-round at our recycling center outside of this event for $0.50 per pound. Learn more here.

Do I need to register for the event?

Registration is not required.

Does it cost to shred my documents?

No, but donations are gratefully accepted and help support our mission of providing education and conservation programs to our community.

Do I need to remove staples, paperclips or binder clips?

Nope! You can leave those in, however all paper should be removed from 3-ring binders prior to arrival. 3-ring binders will not be accepted.

Will I get my boxes back?

We will return any containers you want back, and we can recycle any cardboard containers for you.

Is there a size limit for the boxes we put the documents in?

The weight limit per box is 40 lbs. The shape and material of the box is up to you, but should be able to be lifted by one person. Documents can be in bags and do not need to be in boxes, but please follow this guideline for quantity.  If you are delivering your documents to be shredded in cardboard boxes and do not want them back, we are able to recycle them for you.

Will we be able to see the documents be shredded on site?

They will be shredded on site. There is a monitor on the side of the truck, and you can watch it being shredded.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Through the SNAP Shortfall

We are not worried about running out of food. We are worried about our neighbors who need help. Just based on the increased number of inquiries for help in the last 3 days, we know that an increased demand is real. We were born from a crisis, and we will continue to do whatever we need to do to make sure no one goes hungry in our backyard. We will be the solid safety net when the federal one frays. That is to say – with your help.
