Our Docent Program
What is a docent?
A docent is a person who acts as a guide, typically on a voluntary basis, in a museum, art gallery, or zoo.
Purpose of our docent program:
The purpose of the Sandy Springs Recycling Center docent program is to have trained volunteers who are “subject experts” on our recycling center, to act as guides for our customers.
Docent Responsibilities:
- Be present to answer questions for customers, such as which bin to place items in, whether or not we accept certain items, or other basic inquiries
- Be alert for unwanted items and guide customers to available resources for items we do not accept (we have handouts for all FAQs)
- Help guide customers to appropriate parking spaces.
Training:
Training will be available for potential docents. A written guide, as well as a training video will be made available. Staff will be on the property and available to answer docent questions.
